Oman Botanic Garden

In 2023 we were commissioned to provide a comprehensive media package for the Oman Botanic Garden, an iconic cultural project which will showcase Oman’s astonishing environments and plant life.

Our team has spent the last two years working closely with the Garden’s botanical, horticultural and interpretation teams to develop media for onsite interpretation, outreach, education and marketing. At the heart of this was a year in the field, during which the team travelled across Oman, to all the key environments, documenting the habitats and plants, along with related ethnobotany and culture. Over 200 days were spent under canvas, guided by Oman’s leading botanists, exploring some of Oman’s most remote regions.

The process generated a huge database of assets; over 10,000 still images, 45 hours of video and over 20 hours of ambient audio recordings. These assets are now the cornerstone of the Garden’s interpretation, marketing and outreach programmes. They are being used by our post-production team to create panoramic video projections, interactive touchscreen programmes and ambient audio, all for display in the Garden. The assets are also feeding into the work of the graphics and App development teams, helping to enrich the Garden experience and connect it to the diverse environments on which is it based.

The project is an ongoing experience; an amazing opportunity to explore and understand Oman’s rich natural history, and to work as part of a fantastic and highly motivated team, helping to realise an inspiring and visionary project.

The garden is scheduled to open in 2025.
